A vertical artistry retreat designed for you to nourish your inner artist, claim your artistic confidence, and reconnect with yourself.
An aerial retreat that’s not just about aerial. Yes, we will be exploring tangles in the air, but also exploring what’s going on internally. Shedding what shrinks us and fine tuning who we are as artists (yes, you are an artist), and discovering what we want to share. There’s a part of you that is untethered, unconditioned, and unfazed by judgement and that’s who we are going to unleash.
It’s been a dream of mine for a while to create something that is about you. You as a whole person. Something personal. Because we are more than great movers, we are full of stories and feelings and often that gets forgotten in our crazy aerial world. When we strip back the layers we are all messy, flawed, humans and once we allow ourselves to be that, that’s when magic happens in the air. I want to create a space where you are safe to be imperfect and create whatever your heart desires.

What will we be doing?
I will be leading 2 classes a day which will include verticals technique (rope, fabric, double rope), creative aerial sessions, as well as psychology backed, floor-based sessions with tools for strengthening our relationship with ourselves, emotional expression, and building artistic confidence. The aerial deck will be open for the rest of the day for you to delve deeper and play (or chill by the pool). There will also be an excursion day to Nauyaca Falls to take in more of the beautiful Costa Rican jungle.
Prerequisites
To get the most out of this retreat you will need a good understanding of verticals fabric OR rope (though it does not need to be your ‘main’ apparatus). Know the standard pathways into footlock, hiplock, catchers. Have the stamina to be in the air for a few minutes at a time, an aerial invert, and a pull up. About your teacher
Emma is a Liverpool (UK) based aerial rope artist with years of international performing, creating, and teaching experience which has carved her unique, expressive style. She often uses multiple ropes to create knots in the air that suspend her untethered movement. Emma’s ground-based practice is built around improving self-esteem and body-image in the aerial industry, backed by her psychological research. Date:
Arrive 20th March – leave 27th March 2024.
Travel:
We will be picked up from San Jose (airport / hotel tbc) on the morning of 20th (we highly recommend arriving to San Jose on the 19th). Then we will be dropped off at San Jose airport 27th.
Accommodation:
7 night stay at gorgeous shared jungle accommodation at Airborne. I can’t describe how beautiful it is.

Food:
3 delicious, locally sourced meals a day supplied by Airborne.
Training space: Is in an open air aerial deck with a 20-25 foot ceiling and views of the incredible surrounding area. Open training is available until 8pm each day.
Equipment: You are welcome to bring your own rope or fabric to use.
Trips: Included in the retreat package is a trip to Nauyaca Falls. Additional excursions can be booked directly through Airborne Arts prior to the start of the retreat but please note these are at additional cost.
Wifi: There is fast wifi at the retreat.
Pool: Airborne has a beautiful sun deck and swimming pool to lounge in between classes and training.
Cost: The total for the retreat is $2800 USD. A $500 USD deposit is required to secure your spot and the remaining fee will be due by February 20th 2024 .
Payment method: Deposit will be taken via stripe link. For anyone in the UK if bank transfer is an option please let me know as this saves a lot of fees.
Cancelation policy:
A $500 USD non-refundable deposit must be made to secure your spot.
The remaining balance of the fee is due by February 20th 2024. If you need to cancel your booking due to any unforeseen circumstances prior to [February 20th 2024], you will be refunded any payments made, excluding the non-refundable deposit. Any cancellations after this date will not be entitled to a refund.
